Fearlessness and Faith: Hanuman Chalisa Verses 19–20

As we continue our journey through the Hanuman Chalisa, verses 19 and 20 invite us into the unwavering faith and fearless devotion Hanuman inspires. These verses remind us of the power of remembering the divine with sincerity, and how that remembrance becomes a shield through life’s storms.

Verse 19

“Sab par Ram tapasvee raaja, tin ke kaaj sakal Tum saaja.”

Lord Ram, the supreme ascetic and sovereign, rests above all. You, Hanuman, are the one who completes all His divine works.

This verse is a declaration of divine alignment. Hanuman is not just a servant of Ram; he is the instrument through which Ram’s work flows into the world. Here, Hanuman represents the embodiment of selfless service—a being so attuned to the Divine that he becomes a channel for its fulfillment.

In our own lives, this verse calls us to reflect: Are our actions in service to something higher? Are we moving through the world as vessels for love, truth, and dharma? Hanuman shows us that the greatest power lies not in seeking recognition, but in surrendering to divine will with humility and strength.

Verse 20

“Aur manorath jo koi lavai, soi amit jeevan phal pavai.”

And whoever comes to you with heartfelt desire, you grant them the boundless fruits of life.

This verse speaks to the boundless compassion of Hanuman. He does not judge or withhold; he responds to the sincerity of one’s heart. When we approach him in devotion, our desires—both spiritual and worldly—are met with grace.

The “boundless fruits of life” may not always look like what we expect. Sometimes it is peace in the middle of chaos. Sometimes it’s the strength to continue when the path feels heavy. Whatever form it takes, Hanuman meets us where we are and offers exactly what we need.

Together, these verses show us two sides of devotion: one that acts with selfless purpose (Verse 19), and one that receives with open-hearted trust (Verse 20). Hanuman is both the fearless doer and the compassionate giver.

As we reflect on these verses, may we find strength in surrender, courage in service, and faith in the unseen blessings that flow from sincere devotion.
